Full-Time Lead Floral Designer

We are seeking a dynamic, experienced floral designer for our team. This team member is the right hand design lead beside our owner Angela Turner. Your primary role will be designing daily flower orders, subscriptions, and keeping our flower bar stocked with wrapped bouquets. As a busy neighborhood florist, we also flower for school dances so wiring, taping, and corsage making skills are essential. We flower for ALL love, creating florals for multiple weddings both large and small each month. Additionally, we host workshops at our store multiple times a year. You are front facing, getting to know our customers who we call our Flower Friends. You will assist people with flower orders both in person and over the phone. You will work closely with our operations manager on our production schedule and ensure we have ingredients needed each day for our designs.

Qualifying Skills:

• Must have previous floral design experience either in retail or in wedding/event production.
• Previous knowledge and ability to identify flowers and knowledge on their life cycle and care. 
• Ability to replicate our colorful garden-inspired design quickly, efficiently, and creatively. No two designs are exactly the same at Bel Fiore Co. but follow general floral recipes as our selection changes weekly and sometimes daily. 
• Ability to calculate floral costs and knowledge of flower math. 
• Ability to follow a flower recipe, essential for our wedding and event work. 
• Wiring, taping, and corsage making skills.
• Foam-free design skills strongly desired.

General Responsibilities all Team members perform:

• Assist customers with their floral purchases from the flower bar and all purchases in general.
• Ability to wrap up a gorgeous looking bouquet ready for gifting.
• Assist with plant selections in the store.
• Help care for plants in the store.
• Take orders both in store and on the phone. 
• Assist with general merchandising and organizing.  
• Processing flowers for storage and for designs.
• Prep weekly materials for bouquets and arrangements as needed.
• Assisting with floral design workshops, including setup and cleanup.
• Re-shelving and organizing clean vases/containers.
• Sweeping and tidying, including sanitizing scissors and work surfaces.
• Assisting with cleaning flower cooler and rotating buckets according to harvest date.

Requirements:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs. on a daily basis. (We lift lots of buckets with water.)
• Ok with standing, lifting, and bending for extended periods of time.
• Have access to reliable transportation to our store in Downtown Lee’s Summit - even during winter.
• Able to work weekdays, and occasional Saturdays, especially during our holiday season.
• Possess effective and positive communication skills.
• Organized, detailed, and committed to efficiency.
• Goal-oriented and self-motivated in order to work independently.
• Team player - yes we really mean it.

Position details:

• Paid biweekly
  
• Schedule: Day shift - Monday to Friday; Weekend availability (2+ Saturdays per month, especially during busy season. Even a half a day on Saturdays is helpful)
  
• Hours per week: 35-40 hrs per week
  
• PTO: Paid time off accumulates with each pay check.
  
• Competitive pay based on experience - starting at $20-25 an hour
